I went 2/4 on my 2017 resolutions, successfully avoiding popcorn and embracing new, more exotic foods but shirking my Spanish and writing duties.
This year's list, then, was easy to make because those failed goals are still worthy pursuits. I want to write more, learn more and feel more like me in 2018.
I can't wait to hit the ground running! I have a good feeling about the next 12 months.
1. Learn Spanish
I had a lot of fun with the Duolingo app this fall, making it through a variety of simple vocab lessons. I'm going to continue using this strategy, and I'll pair it with speaking lessons administered by Mike.
2. Self-publish a book
I've resisted writing during my off-hours in order to save my creative juices for journalism. But it's time to admit that writing short stories and blogs actually improves my mental health. This year, I am going to try writing in notebooks to save my eyes from extra screen time. It will be fun to jot down what's on my mind as I enjoy my morning coffee.
3. Do not drink brown soda.
No more Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi or Diet Dr. Pepper. My stomach always hurts after a soda binge anyway.
